Our Impact in Numbers

This section provides a snapshot of Hasanah’s efforts with our partners and communities throughout the year, including the youth who rolled up their sleeves to be part of the solution.

Not all impacts are quantifiable, but they are evident in our stories. Using the power of data, we are guided to make long-lasting decisions to run programmes that can hopefully be felt from one generation to another.

Hasanah Social Enterprise Fund (HSEF)

Yayasan Hasanah, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, established the Hasanah Social Enterprise Fund (HSEF) to empower and enhance the organisational growth of social enterprises (SEs) and social innovators. With 60% of the SEs we supported that year being women-led, it signifies an inclusive and exciting space to be in.

A total of RM7.44 million was granted to 30 SEs, with 90% of the submissions focusing on environment and community development initiatives. The fund enables organisations to sustain their programmes, garner public support through campaigns, and scale innovative solutions that will have a positive impact on Malaysians.

Partnerships
GLIC/GLC Demi Rakyat dan Negara (GDRN)

GLIC/GLC Demi Rakyat dan Negara (GDRN) was established as a coalition of Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLIC) and Government-Linked Companies (GLC) in Malaysia, to deliver concerted and impactful assistance at scale for the rakyat in need.

With Yayasan Hasanah and Yayasan TM serving as co-secretariats, the GDRN collective works together to leverage on each other’s unique expertise as a unified collective, from opening doors in education, to supporting community wellbeing and providing relief during disasters.

In 2023, thirteen GDRN partners have contributed RM 226.31 million collectively, impacting the lives of 501,276 individuals in three focus areas: Jalinan Ilmu (Education), Jalinan Sejahtera (Wellbeing), and Jalinan Kemanusiaan (Humanitarian Aid). Today, GDRN stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in serving our nation and its people.

Partnerships
Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA)

Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) is an initiative by the Ministry of Finance, supported by Yayasan Hasanah, aimed at providing cash aid to 200,000 individuals in Malaysia classified under the “poor category” according to the government’s database.

Eligible recipients received a monthly cash aid of RM 100, deposited into their identification cards throughout a period of six months, aimed at helping to ease their financial burden of purchasing day-to-day necessities. A total of RM 71.13 million was disbursed across Malaysia.

Partnerships
Rural Infrastructure

Under the Hasanah Special Grant (HSG) 2023 by Yayasan Hasanah in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, the Rural Infrastructure focus area centred on supporting nationwide water and electricity initiatives.

In water, the focus was on backing cost-effective solutions to provide safe drinking water to communities not connected to the water supply grid, alongside water purification solutions to bring relief to vulnerable communities. Meanwhile, in electricity, the aim was to support cost-effective, sustainable electricity solutions, as well as solutions providing a stable electricity supply to local communities.

In 2023, a total of nine projects were awarded RM7.75 million. These projects will be implemented in the states of Sabah, Sarawak, Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, and Negeri Sembilan, collectively impacting 7,326 individuals.

Small Grants & Partnerships
Humanitarian Disaster Relief (HDR)

Yayasan Hasanah together with Khazanah Nasional Berhad, disbursed RM4.79 million to provide disaster relief both within Malaysia and abroad, including food aid, mobile clinics, and cleaning kits. This funding also contributed to repairing bridge infrastructure in Sandakan, Sabah.

In Malaysia, Hasanah partnered with organisations such as MERCY Malaysia, IMARET, BBNGO, and Yayasan Chow Kit, among others, to assist individuals affected by floods, fires, and refugees. Our support also extended to communities affected by earthquakes in Turkey-Syria and Morocco, as well as those impacted by the conflict in Palestine. In total, our humanitarian disaster relief efforts reached 43,769 lives.

Community Support Fund

This small-scale, needs-based fund offers additional support to existing partners on a case-by-case basis. It aims to benefit the communities living in areas where said partners’ projects are taking place. With the intention of allowing immediate disbursement for rapid aid, assistance, or relief to communities, we disbursed RM19,298 to five organisations, including a food aid initiative for underprivileged students.

Sponsorship
We disbursed RM451,150 under sponsorship to 40 organisations in Malaysia, such as the 30th National Management and Educational Leadership seminar organised by Aminuddin Baki Institute. Sponsorships are awarded on a one-time basis for programmes aligned with Hasanah’s impact areas.
